Lonely Moments and Coping Tools

Ever have one of those moments of overwhelming sadness or anxiety, but you don’t have anyone to talk to about it? That’s actually a good thing! I believe that those moments serve a purpose: they allow you to be alone with your feelings so that you can identify them and find ways to cope whenever they pop up (which may be quite often).

My coping tools? For anxiety: “1985 Pop Hits” on Apple Music

For sadness: 90’s hip hop, “I Love Lucy”, or any movie with Julia Roberts- except “Steel Magnolias”, for obvious reasons. Random, but it works for me!

And sometimes, I just find the need to be silent. Just me and my thoughts...I try not to become dependent on others in those moments because it’s important that I know how to work through those emotions on my own. A support system is a blessing, as long as it doesn’t become a crutch.

After all, grief is a one-person journey...and no one’s journey is exactly the same. 🖤
